PSARC : A Brief Intro

Rooted in an American Traditional aesthetic, mixed with tones of surreal psychedelia and outer space abstractions, the PSARC Collection has become a growing bank of wildly inappropriate flash for those seeking emotional refuge in the arms of their local tattoo service provider.

This bank of imagery began as yet another technical exercise, but in less than a week’s time over two-hundred images were compiled, ranging from the minimalist to the outlandish, but all of which wildly absurd.

A few years passed before I could understand how and why this collection of images morphed into such a strange array of characters, but oftentimes it is when we have enough distance from the onset of grief that we are able to pull apart the nuance of how and why we responded to it.

The PSARC Collection became my raw explosion of emotions in reaction to the wave of secondary grief I experienced following intensive therapy.

Facing the truth of a troubled past already felt monumental, but the joy of stepping into a higher functioning version of myself, also meant I needed to bury the identity that resourcefully survived so many years prior.

I was unaware of the impending juncture I had willed myself toward, but in the frenzy of creating the PSARC Collection, my old self demanded the right to speak her last words.

In an outcry of chaos and confusion, the PSARC Collection became my space to throw a tantrum of astronomical proportion.

Rage, disillusionment, sorrow, hopelessness, and oppressive dissociation underlie humor wrapped in passive aggressive overtones. I try not to pick favorites among my projects, but this series certainly holds a special place in my heart.

My goal with the PSARC Collection is to connect with other people and patrons who would like to honor the aspects of their identity that protected them from excruciating growing pains.

Tattoos are available to anyone who can legally partake in this service, and for those who would like to experience the full spectrum of my tantrum secondhand, a zine is available.

It contains words with pictures and was lovingly created to honor the innumerable ways we creatively avoid grief during the less glamorous transitory states in our lives.
